大碟介绍:
Anthony hamilton is one of the few artists today who
can legitimately sing soul, however, the material
he chooses to to work with, is for the most part
disappointing. Not to say that great soul isn't about
love and love lost, but Hamilton exhibits his musical
brilliance, on such songs as "ain't nobody worryin,"
and "Mama knew love" where his emotions are let out
through more original and moving material. Hamilton is
aware of those who came before him, with who-ah-ohs,
that almost resemble songs like Sam Cooke's "You Send Me,
" and "touch the Hem of His Garment." Hamilton is not at
the same level in terms of creativity as talents like
Cooke, Bill Withers, Al Green, James brown, etc., but
his voice is constantly hinting at a talent akin to
these greats. The songs on the album where Hamilton does
allow his voice to float, ojust get raw, is where he's
at his best, songs like "ain't nobody Worryin" encapsule
best, although the first track on the album, "where Did
it Go Wrong," demonstrates Hamilton's ability to keep
with the soul tradition with his onw distinct style.
There are other highlights to this album, including the
gospel based "Pass Me Over," where Hamilton reminds his modern day listeners where soul really came from. This
album is a rarily in a day and age where soul music is
for the most part lifeless and lacking the sheer diversity
of talent that abounded in decades passed. But although
this a great album by the standards of today, Hamilton's
effort can barely compare with the works of artists like
Cooke, Brown, Withers, etc.
